A little bit about me

Welcome to 1-Voice Counselling. My name is Zara.

My path into counselling grew from my own lived experiences. Like many people, I've faced painful chapters, that at times, have challenged me deeply. Through my own healing Journey, I've discovered how powerful it can be to have a space where you feel truly heard, understood, and supported without judgment.

This experience inspired me to train professionally as a counsellor, so that I can offer this kind of space to others. As a person-centred therapist, I believe that every individual has the capacity to heal and grow when met with empathy, respect, and genuine understanding.

My approach is calm, compassionate, and rooted in my belief that your voice matters. - and that together, we can work towards a deeper sense of self trust, inner peace and emotional well-being.

Outside of my work as a counsellor, I value time for creativity, reflection, and ongoing personal growth. I'm naturally curious about life and the deeper meaning behind our experiences- what shapes us, connects us, and enables us to find our way back to ourselves. Whether that's through reading, writing, creative expression, real and open conversations, or continued professional development and learning.

My role as a therapist

I am a person-centred therapist experienced in trauma release and recovery, supporting you wherever your experiences have impacted your life. I offer a deeply safe, open, and judgement-free space where you can explore your feelings and begin to heal at your own pace.

I believe every person is unique — so I adapt my practice to fit you, not the other way around. Together, we work in a way that honours your story, your pace, and your capacity in each moment.

 Sessions available:

  • Telephone

  • Face-to-face (Poole & Wareham, Dorset)

What does my work look like?

I work with people facing a range of life challenges, including Grief, Bereavement, depression, anxiety and panic, OCD, Addiction, and the impact on trauma, such as domestic abuse. I also integrate somatic experiencing, which gently supports the body's natural wisdom in processing and releasing what feels too heavy to carry alone.

Counselling with me is not about labels or fitting into boxes- its about seeing you as a whole and unique person. I follow your at your pace, your needs, and capacity in each moment. Whether you are navigating deep grief, untangling the impact of abuse, or seeking calm from constant anxiety, together we will create a space where healing can unfold safely. I also offer quality Psychoeducation tailored to the unique individual when it is beneficial.

What matters most to me is that you feel safe, heard, and supported in your healing process.

Healing doesn’t need you to be “ready” or to have the right words — it simply needs a place where you won’t be dismissed, rushed, or judged. Many people come to therapy unsure, overwhelmed, or carrying something heavy they’ve held on their own for too long.

In our work together, you don’t have to perform or pretend to be okay. Your story, your pace, and your boundaries are respected at every step. I walk alongside you — not in front, not behind — offering a steady presence, professional guidance, and space for your natural healing to unfold.

You don’t need to go through this alone. You deserve support that meets you where you are and honours who you are becoming.

It’s okay if you’re not sure where to begin — we’ll start exactly where you are.

"When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self worth, uncertain as to identity, then understanding is called for.

The gentle and sensitive companionship of an empathic stance... provides illumination and healing. In such situations, deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another."
